Neil Percival Young (November 12, 1945 - )
Nickname - The Godfather of Grunge
Discography

Neil Young's work is characterized by his distinctive guitar work, deeply personal lyrics and signature falsetto/tenor singing voice. Although he accompanies himself on several different instruments, his idiosyncratic electric and clawhammer acoustic guitar playing are the defining characteristics of a varyingly ragged and melodic sound. While Young has experimented with differing music styles, including swing and electronic music throughout his career, his best known work usually falls into two primary styles: acoustic folk and country rock, or amplified hard rock in collaboration with the band Crazy Horse.

Frank Vincent Zappa (December 21, 1940 – December 4, 1993)
Discography

Many of his albums are considered essential in rock and jazz history. He is regarded as one of the most original guitarists and composers of his time. He was a self-taught composer and performer, and his diverse musical influences led him to create music that was often impossible to categorize. His 1966 debut album with the Mothers of Invention, Freak Out!, combined songs in conventional rock and roll format with collective improvisations and studio-generated sound collages. He wrote the lyrics to all his songs, which—often humorously—reflected his iconoclastic view of established social and political processes, structures and movements. He was a strident critic of mainstream education and organized religion, and a forthright and passionate advocate for freedom of speech, autodidacticism and the abolition of censorship.

Zappa was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995 and received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997.

Everyone else... is second.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy all the genre's. From Folk to Pop to Jazz to R&B to Classical Progressive Rock to House to Death Metal (and everything else in between.) If I were to choose a single genre, without a doubt it would have to be Metal. Both Brad and Ali would no doubt agree.

For Brad's 10th Birthday I took him to the KISS reunion show at the ACC. Opening were Skid Row and Ted Nugent.

For Alicia's 12th Birthday I took her to see Metallica at the ACC. Godsmack was the opening act.

Suffice to say I wanted my kids to grow up with a healthy appreciation for music. It is meant to be felt. It is meant to cause your heart to pump faster. And most of all it is to be enjoyed.

Here though, are some of my favourite albums (yes, I called them ALBUMS.)

As I said here, the world would be a boring place without music and the written word.

Put on your favourite disc/tape/cd/album today... and ease into it.
