The time to smile is now

For the better part of 2010 I'd been getting my head around the following by Henry David Thoreau;

Not until we are lost do we begin to understand ourselves.

And though the challenge seems daunting... the challenge seems too painful... too lonely, what we also find out about ourselves is that we are worthy... we matter, we have friends.

In other words... we are 'all' in this shit together.

Keep.It.Simple.Stupid. K.I.S.S. and you will find your answer. For we are all born with an answer to every question we could ever ask of ourselves. It is up to us to accept the given answer.

Someone I know is about to find out theirs... and that's a beautiful thing.

On the 'Twelfth Day'...

Having written nothing in 12 days, I'd just like to point out that 2011 has not been without interest. In fact this year is shaping up to be My Year.

It is after-all the Year of the Rabbit and as I am a Water Rabbit myself, and this being a Metal Rabbit year... this is also My Year.

I'm ready, bring it on. Read More...

Random

Random is not simply a word, to me it represents part of the beauty of our life.

There are random moments that occur whether we see them or not (tree falls in a forest?) If we open our eyes to the possibility of these random moments they reveal themselves to be not so random after-all.

While composing a message to someone who has got my attention (yes... on Facebook), I pounded out the following;

If we spend a quarter of a century putting something together we had better pay damn good attention to the people there when the moment arrives.

I intend to... Read More...

I learned a new word today!

Dictionary.com defines someone who is autodidactic as a person who has learned a subject without the benefit of a teacher or formal education; a self-taught person.

Wikipedia publishes the word "Autodidacticism" finds its origin in "Didacticism" an artistic philosophy of education.

Golden Rules for Living...

Sometimes we find the most interesting things when we are moving, I happened upon this cutout from the Toronto Star.

Golden Rules for Living

* If you open it, close it.
* If you turn it on, turn if off.
* If you unlock it, lock it up.
* If you break it, admit it.
* If you can't fix it, call in someone who can
* If you borrow it, return it.
* If you value it, take care of it.
* If you make a mess, clean it up.
* If you move it, put it back.
* If it belongs to someone else, get permission to use it.
* If you don't know how to operate it, leave it alone.
* If it's none of your business, don't ask questions.

Sure the above is from Dear Abby...

Some things just have to be done...

And this is one of them.

I cannot let the moment pass without comment.

I awoke today and found what I'd hoped for. It brought a smile to my face and a tear to my eye.

I just had to tell you that... Read More...

One good man less...

The Toronto Sun is reporting that the 'commander' of the unit from the Spielberg/Hanks production Band of Brothers, Major Richard 'Dick' Winters, has passed, just short of his 93rd birthday.

And why am I posting this?

To me he seemed a good man. Certainly his men thought so.

And if this site is about anything, its about good people and what they do. Read More...
