Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994, it played a brand of rustic rock that drew on country, blues and rhythm and blues and sounded quintessentially American - even though Helm was the only member not from Canada."
He appeared in a number of films (including Coal Miner's Daughter), but, I liked him in The Shooter.
